The challenge is that they will likely pay you very little, and impose many requirements like great labels and food packaging which are expensive.

You can sell food online, but the challenge is shipping. If you create food that ships easily, that is great. But if shipping will be complex, it may drive up your costs which would deter some buyers. So there should be a solid strategy for how to sell your food online.
